What This Looks Like in Practice

Sensory processing is how the nervous system takes in information from the senses and turns it into an appropriate response. Some children are over-responsive to sensory input and others under-responsive, and either can make everyday tasks — eating, dressing, sitting through a session — harder than they need to be. A related piece is reflex integration: primitive reflexes that are normal in infancy but, when they persist past the age they should resolve, can interfere with coordination, balance, and attention.

When sensory processing and retained reflexes are addressed, families often see better focus and attention, smoother and more coordinated movement, improved self-regulation, and children who are more willing to participate socially. Because a child's main "occupation" is play, our interventions are built around meaningful, motivating activities rather than a generic sensory diet — identifying what helps a specific child reach a regulated, ready-to-learn state, and building a home program around what's already working.
